Time has passed since Kristian Bahoudian, known artistically as Kris Baha — the Australian-born, multi-disciplinary queer artist of Egyptian-Armenian and Italian descent — swapped the parched red earth and searing midday sun of the Australian landscape for the brutalist buildings, communist-era apartment blocks, and slate-grey skies of Berlin. Now firmly embedded in his adopted city, Baha has become known for a mutant trademark production style inspired by sunbaked hallucinatory visions of the past-future, and the clandestine, concrete-clad industrial hum of the metropolis after dark.
Kris is a fixture in Berlin’s industrial, electronic punk, and techno club scene, playing at notable parties and venues such as Cocktail D’Amore, Tresor, Panorama Bar, and RSO. His DJ sets dive deep into a realm of otherworldly machine music driven by emotion, mood, and energy. Baha also runs his own event series called ‘Wired’, which focuses on the immersive experience of live performances and DJ sets in the dark electronic sphere.
The same ethos is applied to his performance-based live shows, forged from a long-term career as a performer and singer, initially inspired by industrial and electronic punk artists like DAF, Front 242, Severed Heads, Hard Corps, Nine Inch Nails, The Prodigy, New Order, Skinny Puppy, and Depeche Mode — artists with whom Kris has had the privilege of opening for and sharing festival bills, along with Boy Harsher, whose track he has also remixed.
Kris’s multi-artistic identity continues to evolve. His new sound direction is particularly inspired by Techno, Progressive Trance, and Breaks from the 90s/2000s, with a touch of cyber-electro and house — creating an intoxicating blend of past and future aesthetics that is both genre-fluid and fiercely personal.
